Get your VAT Refund
You went shopping in Thailand and and you bought presents and souvenirs...a camera or a computer...Dont forget to get back your tax and so to save up on the final price of your purchase.
Allow yourself adequate time at the airport for the refund process. If you request for refund by bank draft or credit into your credit card account and receive no response within an appropriate time.
WHO can claim VAT refunds?

VAT refund can be claimed by any non-Thai visitor:
-
Who is not a crew member of an airline;
-
Who departs Thailand by air carrier from an International Airport.
HOW to shop and get your VAT Refund?

Shop from the stores displaying VAT REFUND for tourists -
Total amount of purchase must be at least 5,000 Baht (VAT included) per person.

Spend at least 2,000 Baht (VAT included) per store per day.

Present your passport and complete your VAT Refund Application for Tourist Form (P.P.10) at the store on the purchase date.

Attach the ORIGINAL TAX INVOICES to P.P.10.
HOW to claim a VAT refund?
(At an International Airport)

Before checking in, show your purchase, completed P.P.10's and TAX INVOICE(s) to the Customs Officer, prior immigration process for inspection at the Customs Office.

Hand-carried luxury goods, such as jewelry, gold ornament, watch, glasses and pen with value of 10,000 Baht or more per item must be re-inspected at the VAT Refund Office after passport control.

Request your VAT refund at The VAT Refund Office.
HOW will the refund be paid?

THE following fees apply to refund requests

For cash refund, a process fee of 100 Baht will be charged.

For Bank draft refund, a process fee of 100 Baht will be charged plus draft issuing fee at the rate charged by banks and postage fees.

For credit into credit card account refund, a process fee of 100 Baht plus money transfer fee at the rate charged by banks and postage fees.
WHAT do not qualify for VAT Refund?
The following goods :- prohibited items
- firearms, explosives or any similar items
- gem stones
Goods not taken out of Thailand
- within 60 days from the purchase date.
Attention : Anyone found guilty of committing any wrongdoing, such as not having purchased the goods or not taken the goods out of the Kingdom of Thailand, whether acting alone or with others, will be liable to a penalty stated in the Commercial and Civil Code as well as the Penal Code.
